BUTTERFLY COLLECTION
This is a collection of three costumes I designed inspired by butterflies. Each of these designs interprets butterfly wings in a different way, using their structures and unique designs to design different types of garments.

This is a dress I designed as part of a small collection inspired by butterflies. For each design I experimented with the idea of how butterfly wings could be incorporated into a dress. Inspired by monarch butterflies, for this first dress I focused on the lower wings, laying them over a sleeveless orange dress with a high neckline, having them fan out over the top of the skirt.
This design was originally hand-drawn with pencils and markers.

This second butterfly design is my personal favourite. I love blue butterflies, the different tones and shades of blue are beautiful so I used them in this second design. I drew a two-toned dress with an asymmetrical neckline, paired with half a butterfly wing on one side of the dress. I imagine the wing really being part of the dress with an opening for it to be worn on the arm and flexible enough to move with the model.

For my third butterfly design I went all out with the theme, creating a dress a lot less... subtle? This dress has two butterfly wings right across the dress. This design feels more like a costume, particularly with how it is worn and I can see it as quite an ensemble piece used to make up part of a group of butterflies.
